Join our Skipton Preloved Shop and turn great customer service, sustainable fashion and community spirit into life-changing support for local people affected by cancer.
Love retail? Love preloved fashion? Looking for flexible, purposeful work that fits around study, family or another role?
Cancer Support Yorkshire is recruiting friendly, organised and enthusiastic Assistant Shop Managers to help run our busy Skipton Preloved Shop. This is your chance to gain hands-on retail experience, support an amazing volunteer team, style brilliant donated stock and help raise vital funds for people affected by cancer across Yorkshire.
This is more than a shop role. Every bag of donations you sort, every window display you create, every customer you welcome and every volunteer you encourage helps fund practical, emotional and social support for local people when they need it most.
Choose the role that works for you
- Single post: Assistant Shop Manager — 2 days per week, plus 1 Sunday per month and 4 bank holidays per year.
- Two Assistant Shop Manager posts — 1 day per week each, plus 1 Sunday every 2 months and 2 bank holidays per year.
- Location: Skipton Preloved Shop.
- Salary: £26,227 pro rata, based on a 37-hour full-time week.
- Accountable to: Shop Manager.
- Responsible for: Supporting, encouraging and inspiring our brilliant team of volunteers.
Why this role is exciting
You will be part of a creative, community-focused shop where no two days are the same. You might be styling a new window display, spotting a vintage gem, welcoming regular customers, getting donations ready for sale, helping a volunteer build confidence, or sharing the story of how every purchase helps local people affected by cancer.
Student-friendly opportunity: We would especially love to hear from students who want real retail, leadership, customer service and sustainability experience. You will receive training, build valuable CV skills and get first bids on selected clothes before they go on general sale.
