Rebecca & Mollie’s Skydive!

Despite Rebecca being terrified of heights she chose to skydive from a plane with her best friend Mollie, to mark 20 years since her mother’s diagnosis.

Rebecca said “In 2006 my amazing mum was diagnosed with one of the rarest cancers – Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. She was just 36 years old, with two kids aged just 7 and 10, a husband she adored, and everything to live for. A massive thank you to the Leeds hospital’s team who performed a 12-hour operation, one of the first surgeries of its kind which thankfully saved her life.

Mum refused to let cancer define her. She regularly visits hospitals to support others going through the same journey, showing first-hand that you can still live a full, meaningful, life after cancer.  She has also raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities, and I am so proud of her.”

Rebecca’s and Mollie decided to also raise funds by facing their fears to skydive in aid of our charity, to help others who are facing the impact of a cancer diagnosis.

They set a target to raise £2,000 and smashed it!

The final total including £525 gift aid amounted to an amazing £3,628.25!

Our sincere thanks to Rebecca and Mollie, and best wishes to Rebecca’s mum from everyone here at Cancer Support Yorkshire. The money will provide free practical, financial, and emotional support services for patients and their families too.

The kind support we receive is an important part of helping us to provide our services free of charge.

Our Skydive challenges are provided by SKYLINE. For more information, please click here, scroll down the page to ‘Choose a Charity’ and select Cancer Support Yorkshire in the drop-down box.
