Thank You!

Our charity was recently chosen by Bradford Council’s Department of Adult Social Care to receive donations from their 4^th annual Act as One-Fast as One fundraising event. 

Colleagues from the department and partnerships were invited to join the Muslim community in solidarity during this year’s month of Ramadan.

Faith or no faith the invitation was to fast for a day and come together for an Iftar (meal to break the fast) at MyLahore in Bradford on 3rd March whether they had chosen to fast or not.

Cancer Support Yorkshire was invited to join them for the meal.  Linda Enderby, Lead Fundraiser, went along with two clients Liz and Charlotte who very bravely shared their stories of how the charity has and still is supporting them.

Linda said, “It was a wonderful evening, everyone was so welcoming and you could have heard a pin drop when Liz and Charlotte spoke of their positive experiences. It was so moving and lovely to hear people thanking them for being so open and honest.  They truly are excellent Ambassadors for the charity.”

A JustGiving page was set up to donate to the charity which amounted to an amazing £3,128.25 inc. gift aid. 

Cancer Support Yorkshire is an independent charity and has supported anyone affected by the financial and emotional effects of a cancer diagnosis for the past 38 years.  All services are provided free of charge and the kind donations we receive help to make this possible. Therefore, the money raised from this event is very much appreciated by everyone at the charity.
