The villagers of Lothersdale had a fab idea over the Summer of growing Sunflowers to raise money for Cancer Support Yorkshire.

Villagers were asked to pay a small fee to enter and this gave them a seed and the chance to win a trophy for highest flower.

The winning sunflower which was nurtured by Oliver resident in the village grew to a massive 301cm.

The competition was a huge success raising £297.00 for the charity. Thank you to the villagers of Lothersdale!
