David Shoesmith, a client and supporter of the charity is defying all the odds when it comes to his cancer diagnosis.
Despite being terminally ill, he has just ticked another wish off his bucket list by hiking the highest fell of the Lake District in Cumbria ‘The Old Man of Coniston’. The fell is at least 2,632 feet high, and the terrain is rocky in places with some steep ascents and descents.
David conquered the 13.9k circular route supported by some of his friends from the Cracker Barrel Pub on Harrogate Road, Bradford. Paul, Kirsty, and customers of the pub sponsored the team and raised an amazing £2,692.00 that was rounded up to £3,000.00 by an anonymous donor from a local business.
Linda Enderby, CSY Fundraiser said, “David’s determination to live life to the full while helping others is inspirational. Our services are free of charge and it’s the kind donations we receive that help to make this possible. Therefore, the money raised by David, his supporters and customers at the Cracker Barrel is very much appreciated and will benefit local people affected by a cancer diagnosis”.
