Cancer Support Yorkshire is looking for a warm, organised and customer-focused Preloved Assistant Shop Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Skipton Preloved Shop.

This is a varied and rewarding role supporting the Shop Manager to maximise income from donated goods, provide excellent customer and donor service, support volunteers and ensure the shop is welcoming, safe and well organised.

As part of our local retail team, you will help create a positive shop environment for customers, donors, volunteers and visitors while promoting Cancer Support Yorkshire’s work and values in the community.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Support the Shop Manager with the daily running of the Skipton Preloved Shop.
  • Deliver excellent customer and donor service and help maintain a welcoming shop environment.
  • Assist with sorting, pricing, displaying and rotating donated stock to support sales.
  • Support, encourage and motivate volunteers as part of a positive retail team.
  • Bring initiative, reliability and enthusiasm to a role that helps fund local cancer support services.

Salary: £26,227 pro rata based on a 37 hour week full time

Hours: 15 hours per week plus 2 in every 6 Sundays

About Cancer Support Yorkshire

Cancer Support Yorkshire is a small, independent charity providing practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer. Since 1988, the charity has supported patients and families to live well with, and beyond, a cancer diagnosis. Our services include counselling, wellbeing support and welfare rights advice, and we work from centres in Bradford and Skipton.

Our Skipton Preloved Shop is an important part of our local presence, helping to raise vital funds while offering a welcoming space for donors, customers, volunteers and supporters. The Assistant Shop Manager will help ensure the shop runs smoothly and contributes to the charity’s wider work.

About the Role

The Preloved Assistant Shop Manager will support the Shop Manager in the effective day-to-day running of Cancer Support Yorkshire’s Skipton Preloved Shop. The postholder will help maximise income from donated goods, provide excellent customer and donor service, support volunteers and ensure the shop operates safely, legally and in line with organisational policies and values.

This role would suit someone with retail, customer service or charity shop experience who is organised, practical, confident working with people and motivated by helping a local charity make a real difference.

Recruitment Process

Important Information
