We are now looking for new board members to join our board of trustees, to further develop the charity whilst ensuring that we keep within our charitable objectives. We are looking for a trustee who is local to one of our 3 areas of operations - Bradford, Skipton or Wakefield.

Applicants must be able to regularly attend the meetings, contribute constructively at the meetings based on their experience and promote the charity within the local community. The right person could make a real difference by contributing to and facilitating important decisions and by promoting the board and the charity in the local community and by communicating well with the staff, volunteers and clients.

The board meet every 6 - 8 weeks for a couple of hours with lunch provided with occasional off site meetings maybe once or twice a year to discuss strategy and risk. Trustees will also be invited to appropriate events too e.g. yearly volunteer events.

Main duties may include attending events on the organisation’s behalf, speaking to groups about our work, networking with businesses as well as supporting the Fundraising Department in various ways.

What’s involved?

The Ambassador role is an interesting, flexible and varied role which will enable you to develop positive and rewarding networks with local community members.

Typical tasks include:

• To attend community fundraising events on behalf of Cancer Support Yorkshire’s fundraising team. This may include speaking about our work, attending cheque presentations, networking at business events or speaking at a local school or Church about the services we provide.
• To arrange talks and to attend community events in your local area to raise awareness about our work.
• To encourage groups at each talk to support us by promoting ways to get involved, particularly through our community fundraising initiatives.

Centre staff can be safe in the knowledge that the Hub is covered and support is there for anyone coming into the Centre for a group, an appointment or as a new visitor.

We are looking for volunteers to join our Image Solutions Team at our Bradford Centre on Smith Lane.

As an Image Solutions Volunteer you will work closely with cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and seeking support for hair loss.

Through one-to-one appointments and working in pairs you will:

- Offer information and guidance on how to care for your scalp as a result of chemotherapy and following hair loss.

- Advise on scarves, hats and other headwear which are available.

- Demonstrate how to tie headscarves and utilise headwear.

- Recommend items that will suit a person's personal needs.

Full training will be given prior to commencement.

All Image Solutions appointments take place on a Friday afternoon and are covered on a rota system with the other members of the team.
